Raise your hand if you have heard a friend say: “I am socially liberal and disapprove of GOP’s platform on the social issues, but I am voting for Republicans because GOP’s fiscal conservatism is very important to me.”
I have heard that hundreds of times.
I cannot. I just cannot wait anymore. When will they broadcast the episode of myth busters debunking the illusion called GOP’s fiscal conservatism? Ok, I get it. It sounds really nice to spend wisely, deregulate, and let the magic happen organically. But if Republican fiscal conservatism’s success really exists, why can we not come up with examples of that success? Just because Republicans define themselves as “fiscal conservatives” does not mean that they in fact are fiscal conservatives. How so?
