National Rifle Association president David Keene said Thursday he had no idea whether Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (NV) would support or oppose new gun control legislation.

At a breakfast meeting sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor, Keene noted the NRA had a “relatively friendly relationship with the senator over time,” though the gun lobby had not endorsed Reid for re-election during his last election.

“He’s under incredible pressure right now because he’s got — as any member of Congress or senator does — he’s got his own beliefs, he’s got the views and the demands of his constituents on the one hand, and the pressure he faces from party leaders and his president on the other,” Keene added.
