To my everlasting shame... I am a culinary student. Or maybe that's to my everlasting delight... either way, I'm having an absolute BLAST doing it. But what happened is that I found some folk who are from the same neck of the woods that I am, the deep dark, frozen tundra that is known as Western New York. The Buffalo area. Known world wide for it's chicken wings, Buffalo has this incredible underground culinary tradition that covers so many cultures that amazes and astounds! There are things that shouldn't be eaten by man or beast unless you are drunk off your ass -- The Mighty Taco bean burrito, and there are things that should be consumed regularly - Pierogis. Things that can only be had during Lent - St Joe's Fish Fry and things that so Buffalo - Beef on weck.
Beef on weck... allow me to wax poetic for a moment here... this delightful, delectable sandwich, that is only found in Buffalo, this heaven on earth. Thinly sliced roast beef, piled high on a hard roll that is sprinked with pretzel salt and carroway seeds. Served with horseradish and au jus... and a icy cold beer... and... umm... oh... was I drooling?? Sorry...
But no matter where you are... no matter where you go... where are the best places to get what you like?? You show me yours... I'll show you mine...
